Join Halloween events: Parade and decorating contest are on!

Halloween Parade

We are excited to announce that the 44th Annual Mosby Woods Halloween Parade is coming up, and the walking parade is back! Join us at the pool in costumes and ready for a festive time on Sunday, October 30th, at 2:30pm. The parade will step off at 3pm.

The police department, fire department, and Fairfax High School marching band will lead the parade to continue their tradition. So how can you get in on the action?

We realize that many families in Mosby Woods have not experienced a walking parade before, given the adapted car parade we’ve had for the past two years, so this is how it works.

Kids (and their adults) arrive at the pool parking lot at 2:30pm in their Halloween costumes. Chat with neighbors, take pictures of your kids in costume while they’re still fresh, say hi to the police personnel and firefighters. Shortly before 3pm, the marching band will line up, and families will be instructed to line up behind them.

At 3pm, the fire truck, police car, and marching band will lead the way for the parade route (see map below.) Families will walk behind the band. Wave to neighbors and have fun!

Finish the parade at the pool. Grab a snack in the pool parking lot before heading home.

We hope you can join us! Thanks in advance to all of the volunteers who make this event happen year after year, and for making this a fun and memorable day for the kids.

Halloween Decorating Contest

Get your family into the festive spirit by decorating your home for Halloween. Judging will take place on the evening of Friday, October 28th starting at 6:00pm, and winners will be announced on Saturday with yard signs and via the MWCA Facebook page. We will have one Grand Prize Winner and four Honorable Mention selections. Regardless of the winners – the more participants, the more fun it will be for everyone. We can’t wait to see everyone’s spooky designs.
