Fairfax City Seeks Applicants for Community Engagement Stakeholder Group

Fairfax City has launched Connecting Fairfax City For All, a candid and open dialogue around issues of racial and social equity.

We invite you to participate in the first step of this initiative by applying to join the Stakeholder Group to help provide community feedback and facilitate community voices.

The Stakeholder Group will be a small group of 15 members who will participate in thought-provoking presentations and conversations that connect current realities with the city’s historical past.

We seek those who are committed to civil dialogue, and willing to discuss challenging and racially-charged viewpoints — while remaining respectful of the views of others.  The group will represent diverse backgrounds and opinions.

Stakeholder Group members are asked to commit to participating in various events and activities scheduled from December through early spring 2021, including:

  • At least six “Community Learning Sessions” on topics to include Fairfax Civil War history, Confederate monuments and memorials, racial and social equity, and demographic changes;
  • Additional meetings with city core staff on this project, and
  • An introductory session on this topic.
  • Please note: due to COVID-19 health guidelines, some of these events and meetings may be held virtually.

Stakeholder Group members are asked to solicit views and discussion points from their communities, and avail themselves of various recorded, printed, and online resources on the discussion topics.

We want to hear from every corner of our Fairfax community, and we need your help to do it. Please consider applying to be a member of the Stakeholder Group.

Applications will be accepted through December 1. If you have questions, please email wecare@fairfaxva.gov or call 703-385-7850.
