On Tuesday, October 10 the City Council will vote on whether to approve a Special Use Permit that will allow construction of the George Snyder Trail. The current trail design includes building a bridge and trail connection over Accotink creek near the existing park and small playground at the western intersection of Cardinal Road and Shiloh Street. The permit up for consideration on Tuesday is part of a larger plan to connect existing and future city trails.
Interested neighbors can learn more in the City Council Agenda at item 9.b which includes the history of the project, maps, and an analysis for how the proposed Special Use Permit complies with the goals of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The City Council held a public hearing on the subject at the September 26th meeting where some of our neighbors expressed their concerns about the trail.
